The 2024-2025 ACYIG Book Prize Committee has chosen Dr. Shannon Ward’s book Amdo Lullaby: An Ethnography of Childhood and Language Shift on the Tibetan Plateau (University of Toronto Press) as our Book Prize Winner. The Committee felt that Amdo Lullaby clearly represented the methods, theories, and contributions that Anthropology of Childhood and Youth scholars seek to demonstrate.

Sadly, Shannon Ward passed away suddenly at the end of 2025, and with permission from her family the Committee has decided to donate the prize money to the Tibetan Cultural Society of British Columbia to honor Shannon’s memory.
