“Undocumented, Unaccompanied Children and the Politics of Culture”
Dr. Susan Terrio (Georgetown U)                                                             (Sponsored by a CSU Long Beach Scholarly Intersections Grant)

Susan Terrio is Professor in the Department of Anthropology and French Studies at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. She is one of the leading anthropological experts on the law and politics of migration with a focus on the apprehension, prosecution, and detention of children and youth in juvenile justice and immigration courts in France and the United States. She is the author of two dozen articles and two recent books including her forthcoming Whose Child am I? Unaccompanied, Undocumented Children in U.S. Immigration Custody (May 2015, University of California Press) and Judging Mohammed. Juvenile Delinquency, Immigration, and Exclusion at the Paris Palace of Justice, (2009, Stanford University Press).
