Conference: Children’s and Young People’s Rights in the Digital Age

The draft conference programme is now online here (PDF)! Registration is open here — the Early Bird fee ends this Friday.

We see a growing momentum for recognition of the potential of online and networked media for promoting children’s rights. Yet, researchers, child rights’ advocates and internet governance experts are concerned that children’s rights are being newly infringed rather than enhanced in the digital age. This raises questions for research, policy and practice:

  • How is the digital environment impacting on children’s rights today?
  • What are the challenges to children’s rights presented by the digital?
  • How might we seize the opportunities for children’s online participation to promote children’s rights globally?
Note that the conference will include a plenary presentation from Global Kids Online – see www.globalkidsonline.net. For those wishing to attend the main IAMCR conference in Leicester, our pre-conference will finish in good time.
